“The demo just continues to get better.”
The first thing I have to say is that I love how much gameplay the demo is actually allowing me to experience. It’s my second day with the demo and I still haven’t finished it yet; mind you that I am putting in some serious time with the game.
Second, and probably most impressive, is the practicality in the game. The jumping stairs feature is one of the smartest designs I have ever come across in a game, let alone an RPG. Being able to skip an entire floor of a dungeon when you have already completed it and mapped it is genius. I can’t tell you how many times I have put a game down simply because I don’t feel like running through the same place for the thousandth time. Etrian Odyssey Untold takes that heartache and throws it right out the window.
Third, I’m not sure if it’s just because it’s the demo and not the full game, but it takes literally two seconds to save your game. It doesn’t even feel like you just saved. Sometimes I have to save twice just to make sure that I’m not crazy.
To summarize, I was going to wait until the game dropped in price, but now I think I have to buy Etrian Odyssey Untold the day it comes out, especially considering I can just pick up from where I left off in the demo.
